LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Our Learning Environment

Our mission is to provide student’s the opportunity for a continued quality education, in a stable environment, moving them forward to their next level of academic achievement.

Our year-round school curriculum is in line with the Indiana State Academic Standards.

Midwest Center teachers maintain Indiana State licensing requirements and receive additional training in crisis prevention and intervention as well as participating in regular in-service trainings and the semi-annual skills training sessions.

While in class our educators work with students to:

  • Develop self esteem

  • Learn to cope with peer pressure

  • Learn to following directions

  • Realize the importance of daily attendance

  • Learn to work within the social norms

  • Experience academic achievement

A successful reintegration includes:

  • Determining educational needs and services

  • Earning passes for family visitation

  • Developing an educational plan for the future

  • Ongoing review of skills and abilities for achievement

  • Transition plan in place for education

  • Wrap around services for the family

When a student is ready to return to their home community a gradual process of reintegration begins. This process moves forward from determining the needs of the family, to earning passes at home, to developing a plan for the future with the family and transitioning to an appropriate academic setting. When a student leaves it is with a plan for future success in place for the child and the family.
