Meet Our Educators
JENNY DAVIS, BS EDUCATION
Jenny
Davis currently holds a BS in Education from Bowling Green State
University for grades 1-8. Mrs. Davis is currently teaching Middle
School students. Mrs. Davis has experience working in a varied number
of educational setting which include: Head Start Programming, General
Education Development (G.E.D.) and English as a Second Language,
Elementary School and Middle School. Mrs. Davis states that she enjoys
being a part of a child’s academic and personal development, she says
“they can offer a refreshing perspective on things.”
LISA DRISCOLL, BS EDUCATION
Lisa
Driscoll holds a BS in Education from Mount Mercy College for grades
1-8. For over four years, Mrs. Driscoll taught in Florida with at risk
children. Mrs. Driscoll is currently teaching middle school students.
Mrs. Driscoll is the recipient of the Golden Apple Award for Teaching
Excellence. In Indiana, Mrs. Driscoll taught fourth grade Mathematics
and Science in a private education setting. Mrs. Driscoll states that
her favorite part of teaching is working with challenging children.
Mrs. Driscoll states that, “I want to be a positive influence in
children’s lives and I love working with children.”
NANCY PETERS, BS EDUCATION
Nancy
Peters holds a BS in education from Indiana University. Prior to
working at Midwest Academy Ms. Peters taught in the public school
system. Mrs. Peters received the award as a “State Life Recipient” in
recognition of her devotion and dedication to children. Ms. Peters
currently teaches Elementary Education at Midwest Academy. Ms. Peters
is active in her home community raising funds for the Humane Society and
organizing care packages for students and families and the soldiers in
Iraq. Ms. Peter’s greatest moment in education occurs when a
serendipitous “AHA” moment occurs with a child. Ms. Peters feels great
when she helps children to reach a point where they understand a new
concept.
KARI SMITH, BA
EDUCATION
Kari
Smith holds a BA in Education from Purdue University. Her past
experience is with both primary and intermediate level students. At
Midwest Academy, Mrs. Smith teaches Elementary Education. Mrs. Smith
also works as an adjunct staff member at a local college. Mrs. Smith’s
prior experiences in education include: tutoring both adults and
children, focusing on the area of Mathematics, remediation teaching for
at-risk students and a buddy program pairing high school and elementary
age children. Mrs. Smith shares that, “The best thing about my job is
helping the students get from where they are to the next level of
learning and seeing them succeed.”
ROSEMARY VANSOYC, BS
IN EDUCATION AND SPECIAL EDUCATION
Rosemary
VanSoyc, holds both a BS in Elementary Education and a BS in Special
Education from the University of St. Francis. Mrs. VanSyoc has taught
in the public school Special Education program and is currently the
Resource Teacher at Midwest Academy. Mrs. VanSyoc works with students
in grades 2-12 to assist them in developing skills to achieve their
educational goals. Mrs. VanSyoc’s favorite thing about working with
children is that, “I enjoy seeing the children make progress. This
means that we’ve done our job as educators and given them the help they
need to be successful.”
