Curriculum & Classes

Midwest Academy’s educators believe that students need guidance and direction to be able to change. So, our clinical education model embraces a child’s physical, emotional, intellectual, ethical and social growth—within a traditional framework of trust, fairness, cooperation and non-violence. Our DBT-trained educators meet each child where they are at—mentally, emotionally and educationally. They understand that students can change, and that they need the guidance and the direction to be able to do so.

The primary goal of Midwest Academy’s education model is to realign the student’s needs and wants so they are able to learn. Our educators want each child to learn the following lessons, in addition to the core curriculum provided:

  • The role and impact that an education can have on each student’s life
  • The people and events that have had an impact on our world—and why they should learn about them
  • That each student can be empowered to make changes in themselves, in the classroom, in their school, in their community, and in their world.

We understand that when a child enters the classroom, that they may be suffering from stress, grief, loss, pain, hopelessness, depression, or other medical issues—and, they may not able to learn at their peak capacity. Our educators assist students in developing internal motivators needed to establish their own personal and academic success. Only when a child develops their own value and sense of self-worth can they develop the intrinsic motivation needed to learn and grow. Midwest Academy’s goal is to create a healthy child that is capable of learning, as they progress throughout life.
